Friendly Trails is Marin County's leading holistic riding, training and "horsekeeping" program, also offering equine-assisted learning (EAL) programs that include individual and family psychotherapy and group EAL activities for all ages. Located at beautiful Dougherty Ranch in Nicasio, Friendly Trails provides a comprehensive range of lesson programs. Students are exposed to a highly effective, holistic approach to training for horses and humans alike. This natural, well-balanced approach to riding and training honors the individual — for both equine and human students. Educational programs offer established levels to help riders progress effectively and comfortably. The levels are based upon the student’s experience along with the individual's own commitment to working with horses. All riders progress at their own pace, learning the important skills they need to master their relationships with horses, and to manage the care and riding of a horse in the most responsible manner.

Friendly Trails is a key provider of Equine Assisted Growth & Learning. Click here to read about the powerful benefits of EAL/EAP.  Owner Alane Freund specializes in youth programs, but students of any age, from 3 years and up [read about the KinderHorse program] , are welcome and she offers wonderful adult riding programs as well. Make an appointment today to come watch the work and play we love to do with horses and their people. The best way to choose a riding program is to spend time watching!
