ADULT HORSE TRAINING PROGRAMS

All adult horse training lessons and riding lessons at Friendly Trails include a holistic horse training perspective, seeking to create balanced riders and balanced horses. Creating balance is a challenge that we meet through varied modalities.

For humans balancing may include understanding horse psychology, yoga/breathing exercises for equestrians, natural horsemanship techniques, centered riding methodologies, learning to manage fear and anxiety, and good old-fashioned equitation.

Horses develop balance through good leadership habits in groundwork, applying dressage principles of collection and frame, appropriate bodywork and chiropractic care, T-Touch, T-Teamwork, excellent nutrition, and most importantly adequate exercise at all gaits, including at liberty.

PRIVATE SESSIONS

Private Equine Assisted Leadership sessions are available for adults.

Private Equine Assisted Leadership sessions for adults are 60-75 minutes long and include all aspects of holistic training for horses and humans as well as leadership and personal growth skills. Fee: $125. New student trial session discount: $85.

Private Horse Training lessons on your own horse are $70 for a 50-60 minute period. A regularly scheduled weekly private lesson may be paid by the month at the fee of $275.

HALF TRAINING

Half training includes three rides/lessons each week. The Friendly Trails staff will provide horse training up to two times/week and the owner/rider attends at least one Adult Drop-in Class each week. The balance may shift depending on how many lessons the owner wants to attend each week. $395/month

FULL TRAINING

Full training is much like half training, but includes five rides/lessons each week. We currently have a waiting list for full training clients. $515/month

ADULT DROP-IN

Adults (and older teens) may drop-in to attend a natural and holistic group horse training class with trainer Alane Freund. These students own or sponsor their own horse, but new students may ride a Friendly Trails' horse for an introductory period. There is a prerequisite set of skills for Adult Drop-in classes, and a private lesson(s) is required to determine readiness. The fee for Adult Drop-in is $55 on your horse, $75 on a Friendly Trails horse. Adult Drop-in classes are scheduled as needed, and generally last for 70-80 minutes.

HOLISTIC HORSE KEEPING CO-OP

Horse owners sponsors work together to care for the herd of horses, carefully monitoring feed, supplements, hoof cleaning, fly masks, blanketing, turnout, health, and exercise needs. A qualified treatment team of holistic practitioners advise the Co-op and provide top notch care to the entire herd. In order to join the Friendly Trails Holistic Horse Keeping Co-op, the horse and/or rider must be enrolled in a Friendly Trails training program.

ITANCAN HORSE BROTHERHOOD

IHB serves boys ages 7-12, with mentors 12-adult. The boys participate in horse training exercises, trail rides, and Equine Assisted Learning activities. They meet Tuesdays from 3:45-5:15pm, and have a spring outing that is usually a campout with Dads and Mentors. Men and older teens are invited to train as Volunteer Mentors and become very valuable members of our Brotherhood community.
